18 March 2026 – LGA First Magazine

LGA First published an article by Councillor Roger Phillips, Chair of the Rural Services Network, marking 30 years since rural councils first came together to strengthen the voice of rural areas in national policy and funding discussions. The article highlighted the continuing importance of RSN’s role in making the case for fairer funding and better recognition of the challenges facing rural councils and service providers.

6 March 2026 – Parliamentary Inquiry Session

The Rural Services Network’s Chief Executive, Kerry Booth, recently gave evidence to a parliamentary inquiry exploring how rural communities fit within the Government’s devolution agenda. The session formed part of an inquiry by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Rural Business and the Rural Powerhouse, which is examining how devolution is understood in rural areas and what steps are needed to ensure rural communities benefit from new governance structures.
