New Figures Expose Rural Fuel Poverty Gap

DEFRA’s latest Statistical Digest of Rural England (May 2025) shines a spotlight on the ongoing issue of fuel poverty in rural areas, revealing the tough reality faced by many rural households.

These findings make it clear that fuel poverty in rural areas remains a significant challenge. Older housing, limited access to affordable fuel options, and higher energy costs are leaving rural households at a disadvantage. Tackling these issues will be crucial to ensuring rural communities are not left behind as the country moves towards a fairer, more energy-efficient future.
