The good news is the landline is here to stay, but the old and increasingly fragile analogue technology which has supported phone and broadband services for decades is being retired and switched off.
The Rural Services Network (RSN) is excited to present the National Rural Conference 2024, set to take place from 16th to 19th September. This virtual event, accessible via Zoom, serves as the foremost gathering for senior officers, members, policymakers, and rural service professionals. We are delighted to announce BT as one of our esteemed sponsors for this year’s National Rural Conference. Alongside our other valued sponsors and supporters, BT plays a crucial role in making this event possible.
The Rural Services Network (RSN) is pleased to share that we held two highly successful BT Digital Switchover information sessions last week. These exclusive RSN membership events engaged over 260 delegates, including representatives from town, district, and county councils across rural areas in England, as well as our partner organisations.

The Rural Services Network, in partnership with BT, is pleased to announce an important event designed specifically for Local Authority Councillors to raise awareness about the upcoming digital telephone line switchover.
BT Group has announced a revision to its timetable for moving all customers – consumers and businesses – off the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and onto digital landlines. The move follows the introduction of a series of improvements to the programme to better protect vulnerable customers and those with additional needs, including telecare users.
BT have announced that they are temporarily pausing all non-voluntary, managed migrations to a digital landline where there is any risk that the customer’s telecare service will not continue to work
